WHY HOME CARE?

The demand for services in the senior care industry continues to increase every year. In 2011, more than 8,000 people will turn 65 every day and by the end of that year, the senior population in America will reach nearly 49 million. By 2025, it will grow to nearly 72 million. The successful business owner in home healthcare has a bright future. According to a 2009 AARP survey, nearly 90 percent of seniors have stated a strong desire to remain in their own home for care. In addition to this statistic, with the impact of the aging baby boomers and improving medical technologies, the demand for home care services in the United States is staggering. Home health care businesses are providing skilled medical, non-medical or both types of services to cope with a rapidly aging population.
Industry trade organizations estimate the non-medical home care segment to be at minimum $57.6 billion in annual revenue with mostly independent providers and family caregivers trying to keep up with an accelerating demand. The non-medical component of homecare is not segregated for it’s own tracking – even though it has been acknowledged by many sources as one of the fastest growing employment sectors and has the highest demand for services across all aspects of home care.
More than 90 percent of the home care companies offer some form of skilled care services, as well as non-medical. Many providers serve seniors and a client base of new mothers, those needing assistance after surgery or disabled adults. The reality is there is no single brand, company or organization that is the service leader on a nationwide scale today.
